Throwing money at an idea won't validate it. Consider all potential side-effects of your ideas before they go live.

There’s a motto I live by.

I don’t “try” to live by it. I actually live and breathe it.

Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am. I wouldn’t believe it was possible, but since it worked, I live it as a testimony to others so no one can ever say, “That’s not possible.”

It’s my Rule #5 to Being Unreasonable.

Throwing money at an idea won’t validate it. If you view capital as a “quick-fix” or preliminary requirement, your idea will rarely (see also: never) result in a long-term reality.

The biggest ideas don’t require money, they generate money.

Keep capital in its place to keep it coming back.

Being careful is good and all, but eventually you've got to know when it's time to take the reigns for yourself.

Tightrope walkers start off on peg stilts to develop balance.

They move on to slack rope (looser than tightrope) not more than 12″ off the ground.

They start in the middle to experiment with the tension and balance.

Then it’s one step at a time.

From there they increase tension and height. Eventually, the question simply becomes, “How far am I willing to go?”

Whatever you’re learning about or driven to do, even if you never write a single word about it and no one ever knows, you should require one thing from yourself because you’ll never regret it:

Everyone struggles with something. You have to be good at it to benefit from it.

Everyone has a struggle.

The battles you wage every day aren’t what make you unique; it is the way in which you pursue their end.

Your focus is unique to you.

Your reason to persevere is unique to you.

That is why you will never find the perfect, pre-fabricated solution.

There’s no way around it forever. You have to meet it head on before the next one comes. Eventually you will find:

Being good at the struggle doesn’t mean it’s effortless, it means your focus isn’t consumed by it. -Unreasonable Rule #3, Nathan Cheeley

Unreasonable Rule Number Two. Twitter might be right when it asks, "What are you doing?"

Lou Holtz’s famous quote that gets thrown around for inspiration daily online is: “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.”

I respectfully disagree.

If 90% of your life is reacting, you’re spending too much time getting acted upon. If you live your life making things happen for you, much less of your life will consist of things happening to you.

So the next time you hear someone quote that lay-down-and-die until you have something to do mentality, you fire back with this:

Life is 50/50. 50% what you cause to happen, and 50% how you react to what’s happening.
Unreasonable Rule #2 – Nathan Cheeley

Conventional wisdom tells us not to bite off more than we can chew.

I say, go for it.

Provided, you are better than average at chewing.
